Thieves decamp with mobiles from showroom

Ludhiana:

A mobile showroom was targeted by thieves at Swaddi Kalan, from where they decamped with mobile phones, a motorcycle and other valuables worth several lakhs.

Showroom owner Sagar, a resident of Mullapur Dakha, said he locked his shop on August 16 and next morning, when he came to open the showroom, he was shocked to see the broken lock of the main shutter. Thieves had ransacked the entire showroom and decamped with 34 mobile phones, including 14 mobiles phones of Samsung brand and 20 of Chinese brand.

The value of the stolen goods is said to be over Rs1 lakh. Sagar said thieves first broke the main lock of the shutter and then the glass door and entered the showroom. They filled the stock of mobile phones in some bag. Before fleeing, they noticed a motorcycle parked inside the shop. Since the motorcycle key was in the bike, thieves took that as well.

The officials from Sidhwan Bet police station immediately reached the spot and started probe. When the police checked the CCTV cameras installed inside the showroom, three thieves whose faces were covered with a piece of cloth, were seen decamping with the goods. Since their faces were covered, their identification became a challenge for the police.

The owner said, the footage was handed over to the police. Efforts were on to identify the accused, the police said. A case under Sections 457 and 380 of the IPC was registered against unidentified persons, IO Head Constable Harpal Singh said.
